It is so beautiful
Colours streaming through
My eyes are drawn
To all the rainbows strewn
Across the sky
And along pavements run
By children laughing
In their search of fun
It is so beautiful
A butterfly is born
In this sweet moment
On this perfect morn

From chrysalis derive
The colours of the world
It is the majesty
Of heaven’s love unfurled
It is so beautiful
My heart has come undone
The weeping moon
Has given way to sun
I’m but a child
Before the hues arrayed
It is just love
In beauty here displayed

A Physical Basis for Spirituality

Humbling and Humility

What is ‘Spirituality?’ I think it could be an integrating, conflict resolving function, localized in the Parietal Region of our brains. This is alluded to indirectly in Humbling and Humility…of the poverty of an intellect that has but one perspective, and of the higher value of “peace-making.”

With a multitude of perspectives, broader mental vision, comes natural discord. Here, simplistic win-lose competition cannot be the way to achieve an optimum, for as professor John Nash of Princeton points out, from his insight into game theory, the optimum is not when each individual entity works toward maximal self-benefit, but when they work toward individual and collective self-benefit. I’d bet that nature encoded this into our brains eons before someone (Nash, and perhaps very many others in the past who did not put it mathematically) came to see it. Between many perspectives, and instincts/impulses, therefore, and to include them all in…

I’m Thankful For…

Mary Rose Jaskiewicz

PicMonkey Collage

I made this collage and it ended up very small. The little font says that I couldn’t find pictures of everything and everyone I’m thankful for so just because you aren’t pictured doesn’t mean I don’t love and care for you so much. Just a clarification so no one thinks that I don’t love them because I do.

A traditional normal person would list everything they’re thankful for on actual Thanksgiving but I have other plans for tomorrow so I’m listing what I’m thankful for tonight. I’m not normal nor traditional so enjoy the list of things I’m thankful for early.

  • My Hood friends. Last year I struggled a lot with friends and people who didn’t seem to really care about me or anything and now I feel like I’m finally comfortable with the people I’ve chosen to surround myself with. So shout out to all of you, you know…

Sights & Insights

Photo 101 assignment: Landscape.

These photos were taken at UNESCO National Park Serra da Capivara in Brazil. I used an iPhone 5 and made a panorama.

This park is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world and the property is an outstanding testimony to one of the oldest human communities of South America. The archaeological sites have dating evidence that has challenged classical theories regarding the entry route into the Americas by human populations along the Bering Strait. Studies indicated that Serra da Capivara National Park was occupied by hunters and gatherers, followed by ceramic-farming societies. Discoveries suggest that human beings may have settled the region as far back as 50,000 years ago.
