A new way that doctors are attempting to reduce their patients risk for type 2 diabetes–by using technology.
Thousands of people took part in a pilot program, called “Text4Health.”
A free mobile education program designed to encourage healthy lifestyle choices. It also raises awareness about type 2 diabetes risks.
But texting wasn’t for everyone, only 39% completed the three and a half month program.
But for the people that decided to stay stayed with it, they say they are now more likely to drink water instead of sugary drinks. They are now more likely to buy healthier foods and choose the healthier route overall.
