Bible and Prosperity

Tenny Thomas

I have been listening to Joel Osteen since 2004. It was during a channel surfing exercise that I accidentally chanced upon this tele-evangelist with Richard Gere-esque looks. He had a positive and practical aspect to his messages which was a refreshing change from many a sermon that I used to hear till then. Till date, I have listened to Joel Osteen using the Podcast app on my iPad without delay. He inherited his church from his father and within a very short period of time, the Lakewood Church became one of the largest independent churches in United States of America while all his books have become best sellers. Even though I am a strong proponent of the traditional form of church, I find no harm in listening and incorporating the positive strands from his sermons.

Couple of weeks ago, Joel’s weekly podcast was about Prosperity. He remarked that people how…

Hey Baby!

red clay ponderings

I blame SnowJam2014, boredom and a mullett, for my brief foray into the mystifying world of online dating.

I’ve just never been curious or brave/interested enough to give dating sites a try. I mean, looking at a stranger’s photo, reading a (most likely fake) profile, and then meeting the person behind the photo/fakeprofile in a public setting…where both parties will be scrutinizing the other, doesn’t sound like fun to me. Yet, it works out for some. For instance, I have a sweet friend married to the man of her dreams; a debonair Englishman whom she met on a dating site. But she is young and beautiful, and I’m thinking her case is probably rare.

A while back, and as a matter of Research, a friend allowed me to enter her online dating page. I crossed that threshold once….once was enough. A quick perusing of the site convinced me online…

Rekindling Hope

When adults say “teenagers think they are invincible” with that sly, stupid smile on
their faces, they don’t know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because
we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are.
We cannot be born and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and
sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they  get old. They get scared of losing
and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and
cannot end, and  so it cannot fail.

E-Commerce vs. Brochure Style Site Designs

This weeks blog assignment was to find and post 3 difference e-commerce websites, 3 different brochure style sites, and explain why they impact or inspire us as design students.

I’d like to start things off with, my go to site for pop culture graphic tee sales. This kind of t-shirt selling website is not in any way new or original but TeeFury has some of the best designs at a price that is extremely hard to resist. Being into geek related pop culture material has never been any more satisfying for both the consumer and the producer. The overall design isn’t too bad to look at either! It makes choosing a color, size, and style of shirt really easy.

The next site I want to bring up is a kind of fun and interesting site that sells all kinds of geek influenced items such as clothes, jewelry, accessories…
